Broadcasting at Prison Broadcasting Network
The real difference we can make!
Skills development and even the moral rejuvenation of our students is wonderful, but the REAL impact that we make is through our broadcasts to thousands of viewers and listeners. This is prison radio and television at its best! BY offenders, FOR offenders!
However, in order to produce the relevant programmes that will glue our audience to their seats we need to train our students and in order to train our students we need to have enough resources and staff.
We are in great need of salaried staff to fill some key positions in our Television Department. Wherever possible, we will employ some of our ex-students who have already been released.
It currently takes us approximately 2-3 months to produce one NEW DAY programme. We can cut this down to about 2-3 weeks with just two more staff members. Volunteers are also needed to fill other gaps.
Our immediate needs on the equipment side include: a professional tripod (R15,000); Lights-as we currently have none (R20,000); 2x Radio Lapel Mics (R20,000) - just been donated!; and a Mini-DV playback machine (R16,000). If you are willing and able to partner with us please click here.
