Broadcasting at Prison Broadcasting Network

why we bother with rehabilitation

The real difference we can make!

Skills development and the moral rejuvenation of our offender students plays an invaluable role to a small group of individuals, but the greatest impact we make comes through broadcasting to offenders en-masse.

There is no better way to reach offenders than to produce programmes BY offenders, FOR offenders! And that is what we do best. In fact, we are unaware of any other organisation in the world that does this.

The TV programmes we produce are currently packaged onto DVD for distribution to other Correctional Centres. However, as the broadcast of such programmes relies on so many variables, a far more effective way to ensure their broadcast is to establish a dedicated CORRECTIONS TELEVISION STATION that could reach every Correctional Centre in the country at the same time. We have proposed such a project and currently await the go-ahead from Correctional Services.

In 2007, Correctional Services began installing TV networks into some 66 Correctional Centres in South Africa. However, these all run completely independently; the majority of programmes are scheduled from live National TV programmes; and the schedulers are correctional officers. The result is that many programmes are either irrelevant to offenders or in some cases further degrade their morals.

It is our intention to completely transform these TV networks into the most powerful rehabilitation tools ever to be used in Correctional Centres! Please watch this space...
