The S.A Department of Correctional Services is currently installing new TV networks in 66 prisons in South Africa. These are all controlled from a central point in each prison section and programmes are scheduled from the 4 National TV channels.
However, many of these programmes are neither suitable nor conducive to the effective rehabilitation and moral rejuvenation of offenders.
We are currently producing a series of half-hour programmes called NEW DAY. These are prison community TV programmes produced BY offenders, FOR offenders, making them THE most RELEVANT TV programmes ever to be broadcast to offenders.
The programmes consist of a number of inserts, ranging from interesting events held in Correctional Centres, to testimonies, family dedications, health and moral issues, and the like.
We are currently awaiting approval from Correctional Services Western Cape Regional office to launch our broadcasts.
However, this is just the beginning! As we believe that it is crucial that scheduling of existing National TV programmes be based entirely on the rehabilitative and moral value carried by each individual programme, we have also offered our services to assist with all current scheduling.
Our ultimate goal is to establish our very own PRISON TELEVISION CHANNEL that will be watched by every offender across the country!
Once we have established our broadcasts and extended our partnership with Correctional Services, we will also be able to utilize this extremely powerful medium as an evangelistic tool to the thousands of individuals behind prison bars.
